NOT that this is how they REALLY want to be treated nor if it is EVEN possible to find a man who WOULD do so without being a smarmy ass. I do like that the "mission" of the relationship is that Mei tell Yamoto she loves him (not something she is NEAR comfortable with doing anytime soon.) even though it is rather ARROGANT of him to want that when you really thing about it.Ī little of the allure of shoujo manga is that these are the secret desires of girls and women. I do want to read more to see where this series goes. not that is isn't cute, it is CUTE, especially as Mei seems to be at the root of events and is embarrassed by it all! Also the plot is rather contrived what little of it there is. I simply can’t tell if it’s been a week or a day. a MAJOR problem is the random time jumps with no references as to HOW much time has passed NOR why relationships had changed slightly. I'm not sure the execution of the actual plot is very good. They both have that same slightly different feel to them that the leads have so I can see them all being friends! And it is too cute how Mei orchestrates their change in relationship!! I do quite like the other characters, particularly Asamitchi who becomes a girlfriend and even smarmy Nakanishi starts to grown on my by the end. They are your typical teenagers while just being a touch unique! I quite loved that about them both. I pretty much NEVER get them confused with other characters or other series. And Mei comes out with some real doozies! I love it! They also both have a slightly unusual look too when drawn. He is a playboy but because he is super kind to everyone. Both Mei and Yamato have a little something different about them. I LOVE the idea that a random interaction with some guy causes opinions to shift about her because she is brought out into the light because of it! Staying quiet and not drawing attention can be a sort of protection in high school. I can totally see a Japanese girl keeping her distance from everyone because of bullying. In this volume he protects her from a stalker with a kiss!! When she injures a popular boy in school because of a misunderstanding, Yamato takes a liking to her and pursues a friendship with her.
Mei has been without friends for ALL 16 years of her life.
